Friday, July 14: Bastille Day
Bastille Day marks the anniversary of the Parisian mobs storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, thereby triggering the French Revolution. The Bastille was a broken-down old fortress being used as a royal prison.

Sunday, August 26: Women’s Equality Day
Commemorates the day in 1920 that the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote, became part of the U.S. Constitution. The struggle for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment has yet to succeed.
