An energy executive stakes a claim to leadership
The energy industry usually tends to shun the spotlight, probably on the theory that, when it comes to oil and environmental issues, no news is good news. While there may be something to this view, it can mean that the public discourse is dominated by one side, with challenges and criticisms going unanswered. That is one reason why I was so impressed by a speech that Lee R. Raymond, the head of Exxon Mobil Corp., delivered earlier this year in Houston.
