Build in better eye contact ... by scripting your pauses

Many speakers — even the most experienced — have the tendency to lose eye contact with their audiences. This is particularly true during long presentations delivered from scripts, as opposed to shorter, more informal engagements that can be ad-libbed or delivered from simple outlines. As the speaker delves further into his script, he tends to spend more and more “eye time” focused on the script … and less and less focused on the audience.
